Review
Editor's Note: As we have yet to receive the VaporNine Starter Kit we purchased, we are unable to provide an actual review at this time. In its place, we have chronicled our heretofore unsuccessful attempts to receive our purchase. While it is not the review we had hoped to bring you, you may well find it to be instructive.
On Sunday, February 20th, 2011, we purchased the VaporNine Nebula Starter Kit. The cost of the kit was $69.00 plus $3.10 for shipping and handling. A confirmation receipt for the purchase was received via e-mail.
On Monday, February 21st, we received a second e-mail providing the USPS tracking number, and indicating that our order had been shipped.
On Thursday, February 24th, we received the shipment from VaporNine. Upon opening the package, we were surprised to see that it did not contain a VaporNine Nebula Starter Kit. In its place, was another e-cigarette starter kit, with the brand name of "Smokeless Image."
On Friday, February 25th, we snapped a photo of the delivery and sent an e-mail to VaporNine customer service:
Hello, VaporNine.
Unfortunately you sent me something called Smokeless Image instead of what I ordered, the VaporNine Nebula.
Photo attached. Please advise.”
No response.
The following week we left a message with their customer service and were pleased to receive a return call. The VaporNine Representative said that there was no mistake. They had simply run out of the VaporNine Starter Kits, and that they "had to do something," so they had decided to substitute a Smokeless Image Starter Kit. He also indicated that the kits were identical except for the labeling and packaging.
The VaporNine Nebula Starter Kit retails for $69.00 before discounts.
We replied that we had ordered VaporNine and would still prefer it over any substitute no matter how similar. He replied that we should return the Smokeless Image kit, and that they would send us the VaporNine kit in its place. We did not like that arrangement and asked them to send us the VaporNine kit along with a postage-paid envelope so that we could return the Smokeless Image kit. He agreed.
Convinced that we would finally be receiving our VaporNine Starter Kit, we waited.
And waited. And waited some more.
We sent additional e-mail requests to customer service on 3/1, 3/14, and 3/18. To date we have yet to receive a response, or our VaporNine Starter Kit.
We are still waiting.
Of note is that they have since removed the customer service telephone number from their site — generally, not a very good sign.
Should we one day receive our VaporNine Starter Kit, we will be happy to write a review at that time. But, let's just say we've decided against holding our breath.
VaporNine has earned ZERO STARS and is NOT RECOMMENDED.
