Vapor4Life Review
(THREE STARS)
Review
If variety is the spice of life and more really is more, then Vapor4Life may be the e-cigarette for you. The sheer number of varieties and options offered at their website is somewhat overwhelming. As of this writing there are presently no fewer than 11 starter kits and a mind boggling array of more than 90 cartridge/atomizer flavors to choose from.
We selected the Vapor King Shorty Value Kit paired with the Premium Vapor King Tobacco Shop Sampler. The kit includes one cartridge/atomizer of the Hilton, Kant, RY4, 555, and Dunhall flavor varieties, as well as two short cigarette-style batteries, an AC wall charger, USB adapter, and a hard carrying case - all for $49.50. That is the lowest price we've seen for such a kit and you should fully expect to pay $100.00 or more from most e-cigarette manufacturers for anything comparable.
Vapor King cartridge/atomizers are available in Nicotine levels of 0mg, 4mg, 8mg, 18mg, 24mg, and 36mg in addition to more than 90(!) flavors.
We ordered our kit on a Tuesday and much to our surprise it arrived that Friday. That is the fastest delivery of any electric cigarette starter kit we've ordered to date. Impressive. However, the Vapor King Shorty Value Kit we received proved to be somewhat less remarkable.
The cartridge/atomizers were certainly not of the quality we had become accustomed to, producing crackling and snapping sounds with every draw. The first Premium Vapor King Tobacco Shop Sampler flavor we tried was the 555 which could best be described as mediocre at best, and certainly not something we would look forward to smoking regularly. We tried the Hilton flavor next and there was nothing pleasant about it. We fared no better with the Kant cartridge atomizer, so we moved onto the Dunhall. The flavor was mild, but not exactly something we'd want to inhale repeatedly. We found the RY4 flavor to be downright nasty and we have no idea what the acronym suggests. The website includes a picture of what appears to be caramel beneath the name, but there is no description.
Additionally, we found it difficult to consistently produce adequate amounts of vapor with the Vapor4Life cartridge/atomizers, and the entire experience left a bad taste in our mouths - literally - and our nostrils. Very disappointing.
There was one somewhat bright spot in our Vapor4Life smoking experience. The kit included a free WOW Apple-Cinnamon-Cranberry cartridge atomizer. The WOW designation is used by Vapor4Life to indicate their high vapor volume line of cartridge/atomizers that are priced $1.00 higher for a box of 5 ($10.50) than their premium flavors. And while that is still an excellent price, we were underwhelmed by the vapor volume produced. However, the taste was actually pleasant.
With more than 90 flavors to choose from, we have little doubt that every smoker would invariably find at least one or more to be palatable. However, at Top 5 Electronic Cigarettes, we believe that cigarettes should taste like cigarettes. We have little use for flavored tobaccos. If that were our thing, we'd smoke pipes. It is our feeling that Vapor4Life would be far better served by concentrating on a handful of traditional tobacco flavors that actually taste like cigarettes, produce copious amounts of vapor, and do so without making odd snapping and crackling noises.
As they say, "you get what you pay for." With Vapor4Life we didn't pay much, but we didn't get much out of it either.
Of note is that Vapor4Life presently offers both "automatic" and "manual" cigarette-style batteries with their starter kits. The manual design involves the use of a small button on the side of the battery to trigger vaporization. As far as we are concerned, there is no advantage to such a design, and one more moving part means one more thing to break. We believe that like the three-piece e-cigarette, the manual battery's days are numbered.
We estimated that including our Vapor King Shorty Value Kit purchase, the cost to maintain a one-pack-per-day cigarette habit using Vapor4Life was $511.20 annually or $42.60 per month or $9.83 per week or only $1.40 per day! Evaluated strictly in terms of both initial and long-term costs, we found the Vapor4Life to be a superior value. When compared to the cost of tobacco cigarettes and the same one-pack-per-day habit at $6.00 per pack or $2190.00 per year or $182.50 per month or $42.12 per week or $6.00 per day, the annual savings for a Vapor4Life user is $1678.80(!) before consideration of the obvious health, and potential life-saving benefits of switching to electronic cigarettes.
In summary, despite the availability of extremely favorable pricing, we found Vapor4Life to be only an average value.
Vapor4Life has earned THREE STARS and is NOT RECOMMENDED. Add two stars if you prefer flavored tobaccos. Add an additional star if price is your primary criteria for selecting an electronic cigarette.
