As we had not heard of the brand, it was never our intent to review Smokeless Image e-cigarettes. But, when we received a Smokeless Image Ion Premium Starter Kit in place of the VaporNine kit we had ordered, we decided to make the best of a bad situation, hence the Smokeless Image review.

Smokeless Image cartridges are presently available in 555 Tobacco, Menthol, MLB Tobacco, RY4 Tobacco, Grape, and Watermelon flavors, as well as four Nicotine levels: 0.6%, 1.2%, 1.8% and 2.4%. Cartridges are currently priced at five for $9.99.

Right out of the box there was a lot to like about the Smokeless Image Ion Premium Starter Kit. Packaged in a sturdy and unique, lengthwise opening box, the combination of crisp graphics, trendy logo, and bright orange/black color scheme, gave the impression of a state-of-the-art e-cigarette kit from an industry-leading manufacturer. Opening the box revealed an elegantly-packaged and well-designed kit. Neatly tucked into a pocket beneath the box's opening flap, we found the Smokeless Image Ion User Guide. Opening the guide revealed a beautifully-illustrated, well-thought-out guide as well as helpful information related to use and maintenance of the Smokeless Image Ion electronic cigarette. At first glance, we were much impressed with the Smokeless Image kit, but as we know all too well, appearances can be deceiving.

As is habit, we immediately selected a Tobacco cartridge/atomizer, screwed it into one of the two cigarette-style batteries, and took a few quick puffs. That's when things took a turn for the worse.

Drawing on the Smokeless Image Ion was difficult, and marked by annoying popping and crackling sounds that are all too loud and distinctive with lesser brands. The taste was not disagreeable. Ultra-mild and somewhat-tobacco-like, we have certainly tasted both better and worse.

Additionally, there was a noticeable lack of throat hit, and the vapor volume was amongst the worst we have tested. From such a promising start, the Smokeless Image Ion had gone downhill fast.

With that in mind, we decided to give Smokeless Image a second chance later that day after fully charging the two cigarette-style batteries. Unfortunately, it was a case of "déjà vu all over again," as the fully charged batteries failed to improve the vapor volume, provide a throat hit, or reduce the annoying popping and crackling sounds.

We estimated that including our Smokeless Image Ion Premium Starter Kit purchase, the cost to maintain a one-pack-per-day cigarette habit using Smokeless Image was $544.51 annually or $45.38 per month or $10.47 per week or $1.49 per day. When compared to the cost of tobacco cigarettes and the same one-pack-per-day habit at $6.00 per pack or $2190.00 per year or $182.50 per month or $42.12 per week or $6.00 per day, the annual savings for a Smokeless Image user is $1645.49, in addition to the health benefits provided by switching to an electronic cigarette.

In summary, we found Smokeless Image Ion Premium Starter Kit to be a poor value, and despite our best efforts to the contrary, Smokeless Image has earned only FOUR STARS and is NOT RECOMMENDED.
