If you've recently purchased a disposable electronic cigarette in a 7-11 there's a good chance that it was a Premium Electronic Cigarette. Marketing their products directly through "brick and mortar" retail outlets, wholesalers, media companies, entertainment venues, and social media sites like Digg, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, Premium has done a remarkable job of bring their brand to the fore. A visit to their website reinforced our impression that this was a brand deserving of our attentions, and of course, a thorough, unbiased, review.
Premium makes a number of starter kits available, mainly differentiated by the size and number of cigarette-style batteries included. Owing to its lower price, we decided to order the Premium Electronic Cigarette Kit PR110 with one battery for $49.95. The kit also includes 6 cartridge/atomizers in your choice a flavor and Nicotine level (we selected the 24mg Tobacco), a USB charger, and AC wall outlet adaptor, and the user manual.
Premium Cartridge/Atomizers are available in Tobacco, Menthol, Vanilla, Cherry, Coffee, Chocolate, Red Energy, Apple, Pear, Cola, Clove, Peach, Strawberry, Caramel, Camel, Irish Cream, Blueberry, Pineapple, Watermelon, and Grape flavors, as well as Nicotine levels of Ultra High (24mg), High (16mg), Medium (11mg), Low (6mg), and None. They are currently priced at $13.50 for five. Quantity discounts are not available.
As we had selected the free shipping option, we were pleased to receive the kit within a week of ordering, and decided to immediately begin our testing. Opening the box revealed the user manual and black-felt-lined tray holding the cigarette-style battery and one cartridge/atomizer. Beneath the tray were the USB charger, the logo- branded AC adaptor, and five freshness-wrapped, double-end-capped cartridge atomizers.
The white cigarette-style battery measures 2¾”. A longer battery is available with the higher-priced Premium PR111 Starter Kits. The advantage of the longer battery is that it will last through about three quarters of a cartridge atomizer and is more suitable for heavy smokes. The shorter battery we purchased will last through about half the life of a single cartridge atomizer.
In addition to being foil-sealed for freshness, the cartridge/atomizers are individually labeled with the flavor and Nicotine level, a big plus in our book, as this is especially useful for those who smoke more than one brand, flavor or Nicotine level.
We screwed a Tobacco High (24mg) cartridge/atomizer to the white cigarette-style battery and took a long, slow drag. The gray LED tip glowed a bright orange and immediately felt the familiar "throat-hit" common to tobacco cigarettes, but far less so in the world of e-cigarettes. The flavor was a rich tobacco with a bit of an edge to it. We exhaled a substantial cloud of white vapor that was clearly above average in volume. We took another drag. Noticeably absent were the popping and crackling sounds associated with lesser brands. Again we exhaled a considerable plume of white vapor, as our taste buds resonated with unmistakable flavor of tobacco.
After taking a few more drags with similar results, we unscrewed the battery from the cartridge/atomizer and decided to continue our testing the following day. Using the USB charger and the AC wall adaptor, we set our Premium Electronic Cigarette to charge overnight.
We are pleased to report that the following day, everything worked as it had the night before — good flavor, good throat hit and good vapor. Premium had indeed produced a good smoke.
We estimated that including our Premium Starter Kit purchase, the cost to maintain a one-pack-per-day cigarette habit using Premium was $1035.45 annually or $86.29 per month or $19.91 per week or only $2.84 per day. When compared to the cost of tobacco cigarettes and the same one-pack-per-day habit at $6.00 per pack or $2190.00 per year or $182.50 per month or $42.12 per week or $6.00 per day, the annual savings for an Premium user is $1154.55.
In summary, and even though it includes only one battery, overall we found the $49.95 Premium PR110 Electronic Cigarette Kit to be a good value. Premium has earned SEVEN STARS and is RECOMMENDED.
